Oats have amazing benefits for health and specifically heart health! It’s packed full of fiber that has been scientifically shown to help lower cholesterol and help you lose weight.
But Oats have so much more than just fiber, they also have wonderful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that prevent build up in the arteries.
In fact, as summarised on NutritionFacts.org, in a study of older women who already had heart disease and whose arteries were clogging shut, oats were shown to slow down the progression of their atherosclerosis (arteries clogging), almost as much as taking cholesterol-lowering statin drugs!
So, having a bowl of “Overnight Oats” every morning for breakfast has so many health benefits, not least lowering your risk of coronary heart disease in later life!
And actually, a whole-food plant diet is the ONLY diet that has been scientifically proven to reverse heart disease (references in the same NutritionFacts.org video above).
However, if you’re like me and not a big fan of porridge or sweet things for brekkie, I’ve discovered 3 AMAZINGLY easy and delicious savory alternatives! As I know in our busy lifestyles it can be difficult to find the time to make time consuming breakfasts when we are running late for work in the mornings.
I also make one of these 3 recipes on a Sunday or Monday and then have it for 2 or 3 lunches during the week with a nice, big salad for a no-fuss, no time, nutritious lunch!
Of course, a sure-fired way to get your daily oats or increase your daily quota without any fuss (you really can never have too many oats for heart health) is to add a scoop or two of IMMUNENCE in your morning smoothie or juice or sprinkle on your overnight oats or lunchtime salad!
