7 ways to stay positive during lockdown

by | May 19, 2020 | Blog | 0 comments

The last few months, we have had to adapt to a new way of life; some of us are thriving with the newfound time off. However, this is not the case for everyone. During the lockdown, it can be hard to keep a positive mindset and stay productive. If like us you have not got dressed in the last few weeks, have watched everything on Netflix and your motivation is at a low do not fear you are not alone and this article will provide some tips to help keep you positive during lockdown.
    1. A spoonful of Immunence a day Diet plays a massive role in overall mood and wellbeing, and during the lockdown, it can be not easy to maintain a healthy diet when you are only a few metres away from the fridge at all times.  That is why incorporating a spoonful of Immunence into your daily routine (which is super easy to do!) will not only help boost your immune system. But, it will also help in making you feel your best-self through increased energy and wellbeing, resulting in improving your mood. The unique blend of specially selected, dried spices, grains, fruit, veg & seeds enhances the body’s detox system and helps protect against diseases.

    2. Keep in contact with loved ones These times are tough, especially when you have to spend extended periods away from loved ones with no indication when you can reunite. However, in a world where technology is a huge part of our lives, it has never been easier to stay in contact with your closest people. By setting times each week to set aside to catch up with friends and family gives you the time to talk to others that are not just from the same household (as sometimes you need a break). Talking to others can boost your mood significantly through laughter and knowing you are not alone during this time.

    3. Limit your intake of social media and newsNow many of us are working from home or not working at all, finding ways to fill your time when you can not leave the house takes a lot of imagination. The temptation can be to spend extended periods on our phones (which is easily done!). Still, the constant checking of social media and the news often leaves us feeling deflated by limiting the amount of time spent can help block out the consistent negativity broadcasted on the news and social media.

    4. Appreciate the little things During normal everyday life, we usually are so hectic with fitting in work, a social life, chores, family and everything in between we can forget to appreciate the little things in our life. Now that we have time to take a step back and slow down; it is the perfect time to enjoy the little things whether it be taking the time to watch your favourite series with a glass of gin or make yourself a lovely dinner every night or finally read that book you did not have time for before lockdown. Whatever it is during this time, seek comfort within the little things, which will hopefully help keep you positive during lockdown.

    5. Exercise Getting your daily exercise can help boost your levels of serotonin, leaving you feeling positive whenever you finish your exercise of choice you are left feeling a sense of achievement. Not only this getting outside for your daily dose of vitamin D will lift your mood and provide multiple health benefits. Yoga can be a great choice of exercise for helping the mind and improving flexibility, strength and respiration.

    6. Meditation Lockdown can be a very stressful time with all of the uncertainty of what the rest of the year holds. Many people have been left feeling anxious, and it is harming their mental health. Taking 10 minutes a day to meditate will help give you some time out of your day. Focusing your concentration on something positive and focusing on your breathing, which has shown to have extraordinary effects on your mental health, especially over long periods.

    7. Give yourself some credit This scenario is challenging at the best of times, so try not to put pressure on yourself. Some days you will feel unproductive and will want to lounge about in your pyjamas watching Netflix. Other days you will have a burst of motivation where you are spring cleaning, writing and going for exercise. Both are okay there is no right way to handle this lockdown let yourself feel what you feel and remember that each day we are one step closer to normality, you have come this far, and you are doing great! You have got this!
